Exhibition Introduction
The artist’s long contemplation on the coexistence of nature and humanity
is revived in The Time of Memory,
where the landscapes of childhood and the traces of existence return in quiet resonance.
A single, cinematic moment preserved in the artist’s early memories its lyrical softness and lingering glow is translated into the surface of painting.

At the heart of his practice lies a contemporary reinterpretation
of the beauty inherent in Korean aesthetics.
The collage technique, in which three-dimensional objects are layered onto the canvas,
reveals the textures of memory and the stratified layers of time, as though gently pressed into the surface.

In early summer, when acacia blossoms filled the mountain valleys
and mulberries ripened on the trees,
the artist watched his mother raise silkworms in a clay-walled room.
At night, the soft rustle of silkworms eating mulberry leaves
echoed like quiet rainfall a sound both delicate and profound.
The fine silk threads they spun felt like the breath of time and life itself.

Life, whether in nature or in human experience,
blooms only through destinies layered with solitude and waiting.
The silkworm’s process wrapping itself, binding itself, and completing its own form
mirrors a monk’s meditative discipline
and reflects the artist’s own life,
filled with encounters and farewells,
reunions shaped by the seasons of fate,
and the quiet ache of longing.

The memory of that luminous summer the pure, porcelain-like white of the silkworm cocoon is reborn as sculptural beauty.
The works awaken a longing for vanishing nature and fading childhood memories.
Through the artist’s hand, those traces are held once more and allowed to breathe
